iTerm is a new version of the old Mac application Launchpad. It is in the same category as its predecessor and has been recently released by Apple. iTerm is similar to Launchpad in function; it will open your Dock and provide you with quick access to different applications. When you launch iTerm for the first time, it will prompt you to select an application. You will be able to pick up the application you want to use and it will open it without opening the Dock. You can select several applications to put into multitasking or run at once. This allows you to be able to run more than one application at a time.
After you have chosen the right application, you will be presented with a screen that will allow you to navigate through your Dock. If you want to go back to the application you opened last, click on the application icon that says Return. Now, select a program from the application menu. If you want to edit or run the iTerm application, just click on Edit in the menu bar. Some applications will require you to drag their icon from the Dock to where you want it. In some cases, you will be able to share your Dock to another user.
You will also see a Home button in the upper left corner. If you want to bring up your Applications list, simply click on this button. The application's list is your quick reference guide for your applications and includes application icons, functions, preferences, themes, and other information. Now, you are ready to start using iTerm and get started right away.
